This BACnet MS/TP router enables the use of standard Ethernet networks to position BACnet MS/TP devices where you most need them and interconnect them with other BACnet MS/TP devices or the head-end utilising standard Ethernet networks. The BACnet router routes messages between BACnet IP and BACnet MS/TP networks set out in the ANSI/ASHRAE 135(ISO 16484-5) standard. The unit is configurable via its own web page. This unit is housed in a metal case which mounts onto 35 mm DIN rail.

As part of CNS’s Lon Network Infrastructure Product Family (LNIPs) this product compliments our Compact LonRouter, LonRepeater family as well as our eNode™IV Lon/IP852 Routing products and LonFibre products. Termination is required on all cable networks in order to cancel out ghosts and reflections, which occur when signals are transmitted onto the cable. Without termination, the signal can be degraded beyond the ability of receivers to pick up and decode the signal. The degradation of signals is affected by the topology of the cable system i.e. how it is wired together.

LonWorks Physical Layer Repeater Two & Three Channel – This is the latest generation of two and three channels devices which are used when you need to exceed the recommended maximum length of a wire. The repeater receives packets in one side and echoes them out of the other. This allows users to double the length of the wire as well as increasing the number of transceivers that can be placed onto the channel. By daisy chaining repeaters networks can be further extended.
The repeater does not give an increase in bandwidth as all packets are repeated on both sides, nor does it allow routing or filtering to be done. For this, you will need a router – for further information see CNS LonWorks® Intelligent DIN Router datasheet.
